My first experience working with children was when I was just 15 as a local dance teacher, and since then I have not questioned my passion and gift for what I do. Throughout life's experiences, I have been fortunate to work in various learning environments in both San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area.
I am excited to begin my fourth year at Red Brick Preschool, where I first began as an Assistant in our TLC program. Just last year, I was blessed with the opportunity to become a Lead Teacher, as we added a brand new classroom to our wonderful school.
Working with the younger group of 3 year olds, my biggest emphasis in Room 5 is kindness and compassion. Our cozy room has various learning stations where materials are changed as needed to keep the children's playful bodies entertained, and their senses invigorated. Art is BIG in Room 5 but never forced. I love to simply put materials in front of children and see the products that they themselves create. I have a child-centered curriculum that always keeps in mind both my student's interests and what is relevant to their daily lives here in San Diego.
As a San Diego native, I love to explore this amazing city. I love going on long hikes under the sun, relaxing by the beach, and taking my little dog, Loka, to dog parks and yummy restaurants. My hope for anyone who is a part of our Red Brick community is that they see the passion that comes out of the teachers, and the joy we all share in serving the young children who are the future of this world.
